Which way do I turn the y valve to pump overboard?
Hello,
The valve handle points to the open side of the discharge. Typically the valve would be locked /secured to discharge into the onboard holding tank. To discharge overboard, you would unlock it and turn the handle toward the overboard discharge hose. You will likely have to open the discharge thru-hull seacock as well as it should be closed when not in use. The valve can be set-up to lock on either side to suit your plumbing.
