Mistake to purchase through Defender
This battery arrived DOA, it would not charge on day 1. It was within 15 days of its shelf-life expiration, but Defender still refused to allow even an exchange, much less a return. They forced me to go through Torqeedo for a warranty replacement, who could not get one too me in time for my cruise b/c they can't air-ship batteries. So my money was tied up and the only way to get a replacement in time would be to buy another battery that I didn't want. I convinced Defender to let me test one in the store before making a decision, and it was dead too. It turned out their entire inventory was at or near its expiration date (they are supposed to open them up and charge them if they've been sitting past a certain date, but two of these were unchargeable even though they were not quite past that date). I understand not accepting basic returns on a battery, but there should be an exception for DOA right out of the box - I reported it the day after it arrived.
