Tohatsu outboard flushing accessory
This was, for me, a hard to locally source item. It is a very efficient method of flushing the smaller Tohatsu motors, particularly if the motor is generally left on the boat in a salt water marina environment. I have a 6 hp long shaft high thrust Sail Pro and the fresh water inlet is simply a small screw plug on the aft lower side of the block. Remove the plug and this accessory can be screwed into that hole and be attached to a water hose and run with the motor off. The only other way I know of to flush the motor is to remove it and run it in a barrel of fresh water. The shaft muffs do not work. My original dealer (since closed) recommended it when I bought it 5 years ago. Other local dealers were not aware of it. I found Defender Marine online, and they had it in stock, shipping it immediately. Thanks!
PS: If you choose to leave the unit attached to the engine, like I was told to do by the dealer when I bought it, buy a simple plastic threaded pipe plug to seal the end where the hose attaches and leave it screwed into the block and hanging. To flush, just unscrew the hose plug, attach the hose and flush it with the motor off. When done remove the hose and replace the threaded plug. CAUTION: Be sure to keep the unit tightly screwed to the motor and the hose plug secure. Check both ends regularly, and, maybe use Locktite. After 5 years of use, my original one vibrated off while underway and I nearly lost the motor from overheating. Yes I know, I should remove the accessory from the engine after each time I flush it, but that is not easy to do on my sailboat and the pro is that I flush it all the time because it is so easy to do. I'll continue to take my chances....and a last comment: this is an awesome motor. I have a heavy displacement 5 ton wood ketch and it easily pushes me at 4.5 knots hull speed.

Make sure to flip the collar
This works well but it comes with a reversible collar to attach the water source, which comes turned to the 'other' side, i.e. not a standard US garden hose thread. You can read a hundred one star reviews from people ranting the threads are 'wrong'. Turn it round n you'll be happy.

Questions
Will this flushing connector fit a 2019/20 Mercury 5HP
Mercury engines are made in the same factory as Tohatsu and are largely the same engines. So it should fit.
