Very nice headsets
I purchased two of these headsets to replace the old 'marriage savers' that stopped working. We tested these headsets yesterday connected to our Standard Horizon HX 870 and HX890 VHF handheld radios. The headsets worked very well in the manual transmit mode using the push button on the headset tether. The headsets also worked very well in the automatic VOX mode that would turn on/transmit within 1/2 second after starting to speak. Although, the medium wind gusts noise in the marina on occasionally would cause the VOX to turn-on causing an inadvertent transmit.
As an added safety benefit, I also realized that using these headsets for all docking and picking up mooring balls will force us to keep our backup handheld VHF radios charged up and ready to go in the case of an emergency.
