Better replacement for Gulper.
The Whale Gulper pump (my second) needed frequent maintenance and replacement of the valves on a quarterly basis. Even with new valves the pump needed priming every time. The new SHURflo pump is flawless so far (3 months).

Finicky bypass
It’s definitely quieter. However the bypass function isn’t stable. I adjust the bypass and it works and then leave the boat for a few days and when I come back it needs to be readjusted. Disappointing.

Good Quiet Pump
Equivalent older model was discontinued and this was the cross reference. Connections all the same so no changes needed. This new model is 95% quieter than older model. Good pump.

Good and Bad
Good: Direct fit replacement for my old Shurflow 5901 pump. Easy to swap out. Came with small inline screen filter and two barb fittings. Much quicker on-off action that old pump.
Bad: easy swap out took an hour and a half longer because when powered up the first time it would not shut off. After running gallons of water through I was sure that air in lines was not issue. End result, I had to fiddle around with the pressure switch and bypass adjustment. Seems to be working, but disappointing start.
