Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have owned both Simrad and Raymarine brands The ST2000 is the quietest of the 1000, and 2000, and TP10 and TP22. I think out of the box reaction times on the TP22 are slightly better, but with some tweaking the 2000 is a solid alternative. I liked the ST2000 for the ability to do seatalk to interface my other raymarine instruments. The Simrad was better for Simrad instruments. So I think either is a good choice, and both solid kits. I have had the 1000, installed on a Capri 22, Capri 25, and they worked well. I had the 2000 installed on my S2 7.9, and I've had two S2 7.9s and the prior 7.9 I used the Simrad TP22, so can compare apples to apples. I am convinced that the TP22 was slightly better out of the box, but the integration for them are better with Simrad instruments. The ST2000 is great with raymarine, and also an excellent device. So my recommendation is to consider your instrument brand first, then pick the tiller pilot that more correctly complements them.

Questions

what exactly comes in the box?

Asked by: Tomas
Tiller pilot and basic mounting hardware. If you have special mounting requirements, you may need optional mounting accessories such as offset arms or Tillerpilot extender. Raymarine Tillerpilot has more mounting options/accessories than competitive model.
