Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game changer I’m very happy with this purchase, I was able to install myself. The autopilot holds your course very well in all the conditions so far. Looking forward to many more years of sailing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great autopilot, easy install and auto config! It installed and configured itself perfectly. Two gripes about Raymarine: they gave me short cables, I had to buy more, and I can't update to current release unless I have a Raymarine chart plotter (I have Garmin) or take all 3 units out, bring to a dealer and pay for the update. Sad, with all the tech available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money, I've tried all the settings over the last 3 years and it still can't hold a coarse if my life depended on it

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cables too short The cables it comes with are very short, I don’t know who could possibly set up the system without buying longer cables as I had to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and works beautifully I installed myself in about 6 hours, not counting side-quests (sailboat owners will understand...) on a Catalina 36 Mk I. This was my first SeaTalk/NMEA-2000 component so that made it a longer job, and there were some areas of the boat that I'd previously not disassembled. Once I had it running it's great. I single-hand the boat a lot, and this simplifies leaving the wheel.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good Not best cuality and it’s noisy. Also the clutch gets free without using

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as evolved as I’d hoped Steers like a drunk pirate, even after hours of calibration and tweaking. Informed by tech support that the system really can’t work without rudder sensor, despite plenty of claims to the contrary. Still waiting for sensor and no idea how I’m going to install it. This is on a Beneteau 361.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product So far so good. Most affordable wheel autopilot on the market and is a quality piece. Had to modify slightly to fit it to my wooden wheel but not too bad.

        Questions

I am purchasing a 34 foot sailboat with an old raymarine. 4000 auto pilot non-functioning.. I was wondering if I buy this kit. Will The old wheel from the 4000 fit this system

        Asked by: Frank
If your wheel is black the entire kit must be replaced. If your wheel is gray it is compatible.

Is Raymarine Bulkhead/Box Pedestal Fitting Kit - E15017 included if ordering the complete kit? I noticed the installation instructions are included, but just want to make sure.

        Asked by: Mac-N-Kraft
The answer is NO. I just received the complete kit and the E15017 is not included, even though the installation instructions are on the product page. This cost me an extra week of having to order it, plus postage, since I didn't get to order it with the complete kit.

We have a Edson pedestal on our boat, is there a special mounting bracket required to mount the drive motor to the round surface of the pedestal? If yes, what would that look like, and if no, are there installation drawings that reflect the round tube?

        Asked by: SJacobitti
Hello, A bracket is included as long as you purchase the complete kit option. Please see the attached image that shows the bracket.

Is this specific for sailboat use or can it be used on a 24’ I/0 fiberglass boat?

        Asked by: Scott H
Yes, it can be used on any vessel probably up to a maximum size of course I just got done with the installation and it works great! It has more capacity than I use at the moment like linking it with my Raymarine Element GPS. Initially I just needed an Autopilot to steer the course desired that's all  It will take me a while to start using sea talk interfase with the GPS Meanwhile be aware that your steering probably is not meant to have a wheel drive but the same unit with direct drive on your steering system. You  can calibrate the unit to your hull-type, propulsion and speed. Aloha, Geerling

Edson pedestal on our Catalina 38…auto helm works for a few seconds then disengages and the drive ring just starts free spinning. Do I need new wheel?

        Asked by: Happy Life
I have the Raymarine wheel drive autopilot on our IP-35. 1. The engage location for the lever has a feature to lock it in the engage position by placing it over the plastic bump so make sure it is fully engaged by allowing the lever to ride up and over that bump. 2. Do not leave the wheel drive engaged while away from the boat as a means of locking the wheel. This will stretch the belt out and make it slip. 3. There is a method to tighten the belt see owners manual. 4. You may need to replace the belt. 5. Make sure The round metal dowel is locked in slot on the pedestal and not loose and coming out. Good luck.
