Replacing the PSS isn't the hard part
As many know, replacing the PSS isn't the hard part. On most boats, one must first drop the rudder, which is easier than it sounds. Then there's uncoupling the shaft from the transmission. Using a puller and some PB Blaster was a necessity for this step, along with patience and lots of bruises from negotiating around tight spaces. Then we pulled the shaft and sent it to be trued, so why not replace the cutlass bearing? PSS went on like a charm.
