Randomly starts blinking in mount, even when boat is perfectly still in dock. All this does is annoy your dock neighbors and eat batteries.

Purchased to replace same unit we had for years.
Installed the batteries. Two -three days later it started blinking in it mount. I took it out of the mount, started opening it to change out the batteries. Unsnapped the white ring holding the item together. Pulled the battery assembly out and it broke into two pieces. I threw it in the trash.
