Does the job, but could be SO much better
Received in good condition, Defender made the purchase easy and fridge arrived on time and undamaged. Overall the refrigerator works, fit the space perfectly, and solves it’s intended purpose (replacement of obsoleted Norcold cockpit beer fridge). However, I’m more than disappointed with unit overall . . . Particularly the lack of space and capacity inside is greatly diminished between this model and both its predecessors because the condenser and fan is now on the bottom. I used to be able to fit a 30-rack easily in my previous model Norcold. Now I can barely fit an 18 pack and almost nothing on lower shelf. Kinda sucks for extended weekend trip provisioning. But again, it’s better than nothing since almost all alternative options are either sold out everywhere and/or twice the price. 2 other less than ideal changes between models - unit lacks a 110v option (battery only) and this model only mounts from knockout ports INSIDE the refrigerated compartment and had to build in some stud walls between the gaps in inner/outer fiberglass moldings to secure the unit. Previous models simply secured to boat from an exterior trim mounting plate and 4 screws. Will upgrade at some point but better than nothing at the moment.
