Replacement jib halyard
I bought this to replace the wire/rope jib halyard. The line diameter had to be small enough to fit through to small exit blocks which were designed for stainless steel wire. The Viper had sufficient strength and stiffness to substitute for 1/8” steel wire at a reasonable price.

Questions
Can viper line be used as a furling line
Viper can be used as a furling line, but it is somewhat stiff and might not wrap nicely on the drum.

What is the braid pattern of the core? Does it collapse under tension like a 12 plait hollow braid ex. Dyneema Plan would be to do a partial strip using the core as the working portion of a furling line to replace a wire-rope furling line.
I believe it is 12 strand, but is it definitely hollow braid and you could do a partial strip, although you will lose a little strength.

What is the stretch performance, e.g. % at 20% break load?
This is considered a low stretch / high strength line. They do not publish the stretch performance at a percentage breaking load. However you can contact Teufelberger/New England Ropes at 508 678-8200 to discuss this with them.
