They don't last longer than 2 or 3 years
I bought mine in 2016. By 2018 they stopped working. I oiled the fan with very expensive clock oil and changed the battery. It lasted a little longer but not useful. I liked it in the beginning but they don't offer replacement motors so it is now a very expensive nothing.

Same as other reviews. I’ve purchased two. Neither lasted more than two years. Battery not replaceable and they start squeaking as the tiny fan motor wears out. Neighbor thought my boat was going to catch on fire. $10 per month seems too steep. If they can make ceiling fans last decades, surely can do better than this.

Can't give this zero stars, so...
I replaced a very old Marinco solar vent fan that worked for many years with this version. This fan probably worked fine for a week or so. Then I noticed that I had to flip the switch in the mornings to get it to come on. I thought it was the battery running low overnight. Nope. After months of doing this every morning, I covered the solar panel one night and in the morning flipped the switch to start the fan, and it ran for a few hours with the solar panel covered. It had a charged battery but for some reason, just randomly (but every day) is not working. I would not recommend this fan and would give it zero stars if that was possible.

Lasted almost 3 months
I had to replace my older versions (I have had several of these over the last 15 years) that were quite reliable. The new Marinco is Extremely poor quality. I would not recommend, seek alternative.

Terrible Product - A Shame Marinco Failed In Desig
I had the old style working on my boat for 20 years. I had high hopes that the new design would fix some of the problems. It's nice they screw in instead of snap in now. But for the price, this is a terrible product. The motor whines terribly after a few months. I have to turn it off to sleep. Sometimes it doesn't go on and I have to flick the switch back and forth to start it. And the sliding part to keep water out, slips down if you hit a wave. Don't buy it. Read other reviews on other sites as well and you will see why.

Marinoco Day/Night Solar Vent
It was to replace an older one. It is much noisier and seems to provide less air.

Progress
Worked well for a couple days. Then started whining. Now has a repetitive clicking sound along with the continuous whine . I had an older model which ran for years with no problem. I guess that's progress.

Catalina 30 Installation / Use Experience
I needed better passive ventilation in my new (to me) Catalina 30 sailboat (1989 Mk II) while sitting in her slip. I installed this in the small clear hatch just behind the mast. Installation was easy, and the fan spins up. However, it does not have the air flow to make much of a difference, especially in the 90+ Deg F temps we've been experiencing (inside temps over 100 Deg F). I suppose it's better than before but I expected the fan to draw more.
