Can I apply VC 17 over other paints without sanding

        Asked by: Mike
No. Generally speaking, when using VC17 the previous paint must be completely removed. Please review the attached compatibility guide for reference.

I watched a YouTube video by Lady K Sailing that said VC17 will no longer be manufactured because of a ruling by the EPA. Is this true?

        Asked by: Dan B
        Interlux is reformulating it.

        Can it be sanded smooth?

        Asked by: Dn4911
When applied properly to a smooth bottom, there is no need for sanding. Spraying is finer finish than rolling or brush. Initial two coat standard to a smoothed bottom is thin so even moderate sanding after application would remove all paint. It is a hard and stable paint, so a touchup sanding before a new coat is reasonable. Sanding any bottom paint requires a good mask and full goggles. I have successfully used VC-17 over 40+ years and expect its new formulation to be the same.
