          Description

VC-17M is formulated with fluoro-microadditive to produce a super-smooth racing finish that shrugs off marine growth. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, no build anti fouling coating! I have used VC-17 for several years with great results. I usually apply it when the temperature is 70-80 degrees. I noticed on the Interlux website it can be applied at temperatures as low as 50 degrees. Application at 50 degrees was much easier as the paint dried much slower and not as much was lost to evaporation. As this paint wears away and doesn't build up, I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interlux 17 racing paint. This is a special racing paint for sailboats we use in freshwater. It works pretty well for that. It has a Teflon and copper base that works well in freshwater only.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VC17 Blue Good stuff. Not really blue, but dark muddy cool grey. Looks good with boats with navy or dark blue waterlines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VC 17 . My go too bottom paint. I have been using VC17 for over 25 years in fresh water (Lake Ontario) and as usual it is still great, even after the formula change a few years back. I used to apply it with an airless sprayer which was way easy and quick but have more recently used a foam roller with near equal results and less cleanup required. It still only takes me about a half hour to apply a coat to a 30 ft full keel sailboat using a small roller. The Zebra mussels never attach unless I miss a spot. Then they are just awful on that specific spot. There is slime accumulation while moored or docked for the season which is easily removed with a rag when the boat is wet. Even while swimming. I initially used VC17 on moored racing sailboats but the results were so good I began using it on my cruising sailboat with equally great results. I have used it on the cruiser about 20 years with light sanding prep in spring. There is no appreciable buildup over time just a thin copper film left over from year to year. I recommend the VC thinner if needed as I have used other thinners which have caused the left over (touchup) product to gel in the can a day later.

I watched a YouTube video by Lady K Sailing that said VC17 will no longer be manufactured because of a ruling by the EPA. Is this true?
