Has little to no durability
Goes on very well, looks great at first but that’s it, it scratch’s and wears off very easily!!

Not a fan of this paint.
This paint sets up too fast, doesn't level and is a disappointment. Did four coats with 1/4” nap, and tipped with a brush. It stays as it’s tipped, brush marks and all. I’m quite disappointed with this paint. I’m an experienced painter too. Interlux 001 brightside paint is better.

Wrong product shipped, required to pay to return
I was a bit upset when my order was delivered... I needed the product the day it came in and was sent the wrong color. Couldn't wait another week so drove 65 miles to West Marine to pick up the correct color.
When I contacted support and told them the order showed the correct color, the packing slip said it was the right color, but was obvious if someone looked at the can it was not "Flag Blue"... told them I wanted to just return the product as waiting another week was not acceptable. What angered me over Defender's mistake is I was required to go to a UPS Store to drop off the wrong product and also get charged a shipping fee.
Not saying I won't buy from Defender... only that this experience was not good. Support was rather snappy and did nothing to rectify their mistake - cost me an hour-and-a-half in time, 45 miles worth of gas, $12.58 to return the product, and couldn't use what I ordered.

Easy to Apply But....
I applied three coats of the Toplac Plus over three coats of Pre-Kote Plus. I was impressed with the flow and ability for the paint to lay down. Pay close attention to the directions re: thinning and use a very short nap roller (I used foam) with no tipping. I got some orange peel after the third coat, but that's it.
However, even after curing for two weeks, the paint immediately lifted when I was pulling up some butyl tape squeeze out after mounting some hardware. That doesn't bode well for long term durability.
Painted surface has only been out in the weather for about a month so we'll have to see what happens.

Ol’ Paint
It was flag blue and silky. Rolled and tipped quite nicely.

This Primer made All the Difference
This Primer made all the difference. It was thick, soaked into the substrate and created an outstanding base in 2 coats. Wish I had enough to have appliedva 3rd coat as was recommended.

Interlux Toplac paint
Best Interlux paint I've used. Beats Brightsides and Perfection. Np mixing, rolls very well.

Excellent Flow - Great Paint
I wanted to change the interior color of a 15 foot dinghy from blue to off white. The original was Interlux Brightside which was no longer made. I followed the Interlux instructions for overcoating a surface in good condition (sanding lightly, wipe down with Interlux brushing solvent). Painting was by brush and roller - no tipping was required after rolling. You need to pay attention to thinning - use the correct solvent. It did not take more than 5% but was necessary. I needed 2 full coats, plus one more pass on needed areas to cover the blue. The paint is harder than Brightside, and has held up while sailing. I am very happy with the result!

Questions
I have a wood hull with good paint that is just beginning to fail. What are your surface prep requirements?
Don't use this paint for your hull. It is for use above the waterline.

Needs to be sanded between coats?
Toplac Plus does not require sanding between new coats.

Will Toplac Plus paint be durable for the white boot stripe which is above but near the water line and above my boot bottom paint on a new wood boat with fiberglass epoxy encapsulation followed by the recommended primer coats?
Toplac did great on boot stripe, interior repaint. Holds up well, shines. Absolutely terrible on painting a mast. Runs, poor coverage, chips easily. That was a poor choice in paints for a mast.
