Alternate gray and white. Great coating
Covers well. Easy to use. I’d recommend switching gray and white alternating. I used three coats on a white bottomed boat (most are) and gray on white would be much easier to determine where you’ve been. Coat 2 white on grey for the same reason, 3rd white on gray is my recommended approach. I did 3 white coats and it requires unwavering discipline to get full coverage.

Questions
Does this come with parts The harder in the paint?
This is a two part product-2000E and 2001E. Check with Defender to see if each part has to be ordered separately-I do not remember. I have purchased this stuff twice and each time it was applied by my boatyard on fully exposed (naked and bright) areas of my lead keel with good results. The first time the yard did not lift the boat (keel) off the "cradle" so the 2000E/01E was not applied to the bottom of the keel. I believe that is why I had to re-apply one or two yrs latter. The second application was last spring (2023). When the boat is hauled the bottom is power washed and this year (in a different yard) an area about 6" sq had exposed raw lead. I will be redoing the 2000E/01E in that area again this year. I believe the
product is good and the flaws were the result of less than perfect application.

2000e over galvanized steel
Interlux 2000e over Galvanized Steel ?
from my experience!
Rough Grit Sand first 80 grit max 60 grit if the sander operator is careful. Finish should be rough so the 2 part epoxy can bind solidly with the metal.
I would do a test section first, 12” x12” With 3 separate coverings 12-24 hours between coats. I would also contact Interlux and ask if a Primer coating should go on first. The sanding work will need/have to be done regardless of what product is being applied. I am not a professional, but I have researched and used Interlux products as well as other Manufactures of similar products.
Hope this helps !
Michael
