Description

The Harken HMR99 Non-Captive Bearing Traveler Car Rebuild Kit contains the parts necessary to service most Harken traveler cars manufactured before 2009 will have non captive bearings.

Service Travelers at Regular Intervals

  • Service is required after storage, when cars have had too much friction, or if balls seem to be sliding instead of rolling
  • Flush with fresh water and detergent, move cars back and forth to circulate the balls, and follow with high-pressure water
  • Clean track grooves and then use a single drop of Mclube OneDrop™ Ball Bearing Conditioner in each ball race
  • If bearings are damaged use a Traveler Car Rebuild Kit which includes replacement bearings and end caps

In the Box:

  • Pair of new end caps
  • Screws for the end caps (with blue Loctite)
  • (1) Ball loader
  • (60) Appropriately sized Torlon ball bearings
  • Instructions

Notes:

  • Do not use Harken Equipment for human suspension
  • Please use the above PDF as a guide in helping to determine which traveler car you have
  • There are no numbers on the cars, so the ID will have to be made by looking at the measurement across the top of track and viewing a cross section of the track to make sure it does not have a groove for a bearing retainer
  • Most Harken traveler cars manufactured before 2009 will have non captive bearings
  • Once it is established whether or not it is a Non-Captive traveler car then determine which size track by measuring the width across the top of the track:
    • 7/8" Track Top Width = Small Boat - Use Kit #HSB501
    • 1-1/16" Track Top Width = Midrange - Use Kit #HMR99
    • 1-1/4" Track Top Width = Big Boat - Use Kit #HBB197

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works to restore 22-year old 27 mm Harken Traveler This worked great to keep a 22-year old Harken 27 mm traveler after the end cap on the car broke on a bad jibe. Very easy to install the new end caps, load the bearings and get the car back on the track
