Replace Lift Muffler
This is a sold lift muffler, described dimensions are accurate. Following a repower on a 1988 J/37 sailboat with a Yanmar 3YM30AE 29 HP diesel engine, I installed a Centek Vernalift lift muffler 2"x 2" (Top In/Top Out) 8"x 8" part# 1500009 with 1.9 gal capacity volume / 0.78 gal design volume, replacing OEM Vernalift 2"x2" (Top In/Top Out) 6"x9" with 1.25 gal capacity volume / 0.43 gal design volume i.e. 81% increase in capacity and 52% increase in actual volume (measured by V = πr²h). This was the largest reputable muffler that would fit in my engine "compartment." Because Centek provides such accurate information on their website, this was a very easy installation with no surprises.
