They get tired
I have 24 throughout the boat. They run pretty much continuously. So they do burn up. I’ve got two that after two years of operation they are dead our dyeing. So I will have to replace them. Designed obsolescence. I will attempt to restore these with lubrication.

Caframo fans are fantastic!
Caframo fans can't be beat. We bought our first set six years ago. They've been to Maine once and the Bahamas twice from Virginia. Just replaced one.
