Buccaneer 3-Strand Twisted Nylon Dock Line Item # 863306
Description
Buccaneer Twisted Dock Lines are manufactured with marine grade rope that stretches and absorbs shock to protect your boat. These dock lines have a good "hand" (feels good), and resist abrasion for durability and value.
Rope manufacturers recommend bow and stern lines be 1 1/2 to 2 times the boat's beam and spring lines should be 3/4 times the boat's length.
Features:
- Manufactured with special marine-grade three strand ropes in the U.S.A
- Heat sealed on bitter end
Specifications:
- Average Tensile Strength:
- 3/8" Diameter: 4900 lbs
- 1/2" Diameter: 8500 lbs
- 5/8" Diameter: 15,200 lbs
- 3/4" Diameter: 18,000 lbs
- Manufacturer suggested diameter based on boat length:
- Up to 25': 3/8" diameter
- 25' to 35': 1/2" diameter
- 35' to 45': 5/8" diameter
- 45' to 55': 3/4" diameter
Notes:
- Line sizes of 5/8" and under have a 12" pre-spliced eye, and line sizes of 3/4" and up have an 18" pre-spliced eye
- Bow and stern dock lines are generally used in conjunction with spring lines to secure a boat to a dock. It is recommended that the diameter of the dock line be determined by the length of the boat as indicated above, but some boaters use a larger-than-recommended diameter because they feel more secure or prefer the feel of a larger line while docking

Low quality dock lines
Disappointing. Purchased 4 of these Buccaneer 3-strand twisted nylon dock lines. Upon opening, found line twist to be very relaxed. Strands have a soft feel. Tied boat in slip (2 spring, 2 stern) & within 3-4 days, noticed small bumps along the length of each line. They resemble little knots protruding from the strands.
When I called for help regarding return/exchange/store credit, I'm told I have no options because I've already opened the packaging. Now I'm stuck with these lines I'm not satisfied with.
How can I determine the quality & durability without first opening the package & using them.
