Terrible product. Poor support from Defender
Don’t waste your money. At least the smallest size (the size recommended) doesn’t work. Defender refused to take a return. A Barton rep (in the UK) tried his best to help, with several phone calls; but none of his many suggestions worked. At least he tried. Fork up the money for a real self-tailer.

Questions
I bought these before from defender as parts 600711 and 600712. Could you confirm to which current part number they correspond?
Hello,
The 600711 was the small Wincher new item # 861788 and the 600712 was the medium size new item # 861789

I have old Barlow 16 winches on my Cape Dory 27. I've tried med Barton Winchers but cannot get them on. Is Med the wrong size? HELP!
OK, the boiling and then prying "bicycle tire routine" worked! They are on and looking good. Look forward to trying the out.
Thanks!

Which size rubber adapters for turning your winch into a self tailing winch and they’re a number 16 so which size do I need for your product to work on my number 16 winch?
I can't tell you what size, but I will, tell you that the proper size will be a very tight fit, and will require a good deal of effort to install.
I found this on YouTube showing how to install using two people and a sail tie. I managed solo, using a sail tie and a second winch.
