Baltek SB Contourkore

Features:

• BALTEK SB is a core material produced from select kiln-dried balsa wood in the endgrain configuration
  • When balsa wood is cut perpendicular to the grain direction it has optimum physical properties due to its honeycomb-like cell structure
• BALTEK has the following properties:
  • Extremely low specific weight
  • High mechanical rigidity and stiffness
  • Reduced use of raw materials
• Applications: Ship and boat construction (hull, decks, bulkheads, superstructures, interior fittings)
• Applications: Compatible with polyester, vinylester or epoxy resins and glass, DuPont™ KEVLAR® or carbon fibers
• Sandwich structures with balsa result in a particularly lightweight and sturdy end product
• Depending on processing and in combination with other layers, BALTEK®core material has other interesting properties:
  • Excellent flexural,bond & shear strengths
  • High strength-to-weight ratio
  • Requires less resin to wet out than cellular foam cores
  • Pre-wetting not necessary
  • Certified & approved for marine use
  • Includes fiberglass scrim for contour ability

• Material:
  • Balsa is a universal core material due to the excellent styrene and chemical resistance as well as the neutral behavior in terms of temperature fluctuations
  • Balsa can be processed with all known resin systems and processes and has excellent laminate adhesion properties
  • BALTEK balsa wood is grown on their own plantations in Ecuador; it is not obtained from the deforestation of the rain forest
    • Ecological, sustainable product, made of 100% plantation wood
